Saturday 4th April saw the successful launch
of a new and exciting Habonim Dror event:
SAT NITE LIVE! The initiative was set up to
with the mission to provide activities for
teenage Jewish children in the Manchester
area on Saturday nights where we appreciate
there is little for them to do- it’s simple
really! We understand teenagers want more
choices.
The live music night was the first in a
series of future “Sat Nite Live’s” so watch
this space for future events, all having
their own formats!
As for the launch night the turnout was
incredible with over 200 people attending
from a range of ages between 15-21years.
Habo took over the Maccabi Centre in
Prestwich and made it their own in style!
The live acts included Sarah Richler-Kleiman
who kicked us off with an amazing acoustic
set, followed by the talented JJ Hodari and
Harvey Kaye. Next up was upcoming band The
Fractures including Habo’s very own Ben
Gould, Dave Lewis and Tash Davies on
vocals. Ending the night in style was Josh
Lewis and Harris Kersh who had the crowd
transfixed with their impressive set.
HDUK Northern Fieldworker Marc Fink said of
the night, “We are truly amazed with the
turnout tonight…it just goes to show that
there is a great demand to provide social
frameworks for teenagers to get together on
Saturday nights. We’re providing something
innovative and this year we are proving very
successful at tapping into what kids really
want. Once you know this, anything is
possible. Furthermore, we allow people to
creatively express themselves, from the
performers to the committee of sixth formers
who helped plan the night- this is what we
do best!”
SNL has already received the backing from
organizations such as The Jewish Chronicle,
UJIA and The Jewish Telegraph Newspapers
Group.
