Habo Helps JNF For Tu B’Shvat!

The past week has seen Habonim Dror movement workers and bogrim travel the breadth of the country to teach the world why we should be recycling!  It was all in aid of the JNF’s Tu’Bishvat Roadshow and like most years previously gone by, Habo are first to pair up with this exciting project.  This year’s travelling army included Nicola Zoltie, Marc Fink, Ido Horowitz, Cassie Matus and Eitan Sadeh.

Tu’ Bishvat (15th Shvat) , ‘the birthday of the trees’, is a chance for us all to eat new fruit, to plant trees, and to think about the importance of looking after the environment we live in.  The Roadshow kicked off in King David Liverpool where pupils of all ages learn’t about the degrading process and the importance of recycling.  They then each made something useful out of recyclable materials.  Examples were desk-tidies, puppets and mobiles.

Tuesday was back in Liverpool and across the pennines to Leeds to run a Tu B’Shvat seder (ceremony) for the younger pupils where they ate new fruits and sang songs.  On Thursday, the team travelled North to Glasgow at Calderwood Lodge Primary School and then completed the bumper week in Manchester at King David Primary School.

The week was shattering but truly rewarding and we’d like to thanks all those who volunteered to help make it run smoothly.  Special thanks must go to Eitan Sadeh for his hard work, organization and excellent choice of Tesco sandwiches (not)!

Thanks again to all those who helped make it a wonderfully brilliant machaneh!
