Dear
Childrens Aid – Robert Broude Memorial Appeal – 10K and 2K Run/Walk
I am delighted to inform you that due to overwhelming demand we will once again be putting on a very special fun run to be held in Heaton Park, Prestwich, Manchester on Sunday 16th September 2007.
Robert Broude and indeed the Broude family are a well known and very well respected local family. Robert attended King David School and subsequently went on to Manchester Grammar School. Sadly Robert contracted a rare form of cancer and tragically passed away aged just 19, 3 years ago. The Robert Broude appeal was set up in his memory in order to raise funds for the Young Oncology Unit at Christie Hospital, Manchester. We set an ambitious target of £250,000 in order to improve the day care facilities at the Unit – where Robert spent so much of his time during the latter part of his short life. The appeal is ongoing and the project is extensive. We need the support of as many people as possible
Our first attempt at the fun run last year proved to be superbly successful with over 650 people taking part and over £20,000 raised from sponsorship. In addition, everyone who attended, both participants and spectators, enjoyed a fabulous day out as we put on some superb entertainment both before and after the run. This will be repeated this year so there is really something for everyone!
It does not matter whether people run, walk or crawl – it is meant to be a fun day for all concerned and hopefully a successful fundraising event for the appeal.
.
I believe that this is a very special and local appeal and rely very heavily on local support.
If you require any further details you can obtain the same from the website – www.childrensaid.co.uk.
Our aim this year is to exceed 1000 people taking part. We need your help!
Kind regards,
Yours sincerely,
M. Hymanson
