This event will be exploring the themes of the festival and then we will have our very own Habo style seder night wine and all!
The dinner will not be fully pesach dic, but that does not matter as its the night before pesach!!! This will allow you to take anything that interests you from our seder night and take it home to your family the night after.
Come to the Manchester House on Sunday 1st April, 7pm

Habo’s Manchester Seder Night
Habonim Dror movement workers this year committed to fulfilling their ideology more than any other years previously, and one of their major aims was to run culturally Jewish events for communities all over the country. So far this year the Habonim Dror movement workers have marked Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Chanukah and Purim all with great success.
Now it is the time for Pesach, a time when Habonim Dror traditionally held their annual third seder, however last year there was a twist on this already successful event. Habonim Dror held their first ‘Zero Seder’ named so as it is before the first seder night. The seder will followed the story of pesach, but instead of just reading through the book the attendees will explore the story looking at the relevance to today’s world. Last year the event attracted over 30 participants and events orgainsers this year expect to attract similar numbers. This year as part of their co-existence work Habonim Dror have invited some members of the Muslim religion along te seder and the northern fieldworker Anthony Steen said,” We wanted to invite the youngsters to the event to give them a chance to see a Jewish festival. We hope that they will come as it will be fantastic to welcome people into our seder that have never had a Jewish experience before.”
Habonim Dror chinuch worker Dan Conn commented, “ This is a chance to discuss, learn and celebrate a chag with the Habonim community. This is a festival that we can relate to and take something from it. This year we will be relating the story of Pesach to the current Genocide in Darfur.”
The Habonim Dror zero seder is on Sunday 1st of April at the Habonim Dror house, 28 wilton road, crumpsall. The seder is open to the whole community over 16 years of age and starts at 7pm. To come to the event you must RSVP before hand to dan@habodror.org.uk. .
Over Twenty Enjoy Habo Seder
Habonim Dror held their annual “Zero Seder” last Sunday and over twenty people came to the event including people that travelled from Leeds for the event. The event was designed to have a Habo Seder with members of the movement and they went through the specially written Habo Haggada and enjoyed a meal in the Habonim Dror bayit.
The members of the movement were involved from the start of the process to the end from the making of the food throughout the service and then eating dinner before singing and chatting about the themes of the festival.
Event organisers were very happy with the turnout and the way that people discussed and celebrated the festivals. Organiser Dan Conn, from Manchester, commented, “the event was such a nice occasion. It is always so nice to have the members of the movement all together celebrating the Jewish festivals. Now people have taken more meaning from the festival that they will be able to spread around the community.”
The event looked at current people in the world that are not free and the Jewish responsibility towards these people. Examples were the genocide in Darfur, Tibeatans that are being tortured by the Chineese to name a few.
Anthony Steen, social action worker from Habonim Dror, said, “As Jews we should be the first that stand up against those that persecute others. This is something we can take from the story of Pesach as it should not just be Jews that are free, but everyone.”
