Every year on the 27th January we commemorate those who lived through the holocaust, those who survived and perished, and think about the atrocities occurring in the world today. Hanukkah, the festival of lights as it is commonly known (although the literal translation means dedication not lights), commemorates two extraneous events. The defeat of a superior Greek army by the miniscule Jewish maccabees and also the miracle of one drop of oil lasting eight days.
