Leadership
How many times do we in HDUK focus our chinuch and activities around the importance of Leadership and being dugma? Probably this is the hard core of a youth movement – to be a madrich, to lead chanichim, to be there for chanichim and co-madrichim, to lead, to search for the path, to be able to deal with problems and challenges, to be open minded, to listen, to take hard decision, to push yourself and others, to motivate, to overcome tiredness and hunger, to feel good with authority but not to use it wrongly, to be everyone’s madrich, to do everything you can for the sake of what you believe in.
Do we expect the same things from the state leaders? Do we ask them to guide us, to lead us, to make sure we are safe? Do we ask them to be honest with us and not tell us stories (Machane Magic)? Do we want to know, every day, that we can trust the leaders of the state and feel they are doing everything they can to make sure we get on with what we do?
A special committee was assigned to investigate the whole war shamble. Ehud Olmert said he planned the war in Lebanon by March 2006, 3 months before it acutely started. Is it true? And if yes – how come the Israeli army was not ready? How come we in Israel were not ready to deal with the missiles flying all over the place?
Olmert also said that one should blame Peretz, the in experience Defence Minister. But it was Olmert to assign Peretz, right? Well Olmert is now saying he made a deal with Labour (Peretz’s Party) and the Labour decided who to appoint. Is it true? According to Peretz, it was a deal struck between the two. Who do you believe?
Last few weeks we are witnessing Israel becoming Sicily. The prime minister is a prime suspect in few different cases; the treasurer is a suspect; the minister of Justice was found guilty in sexual harassment; the president is a bout to face charges of sexual attack and may be rape.
Are those the leaders of a country and a nation? Did they forget about the basic rules of Dugma ishit?
