EVENING UPDATE
(careful – I have switched around the group order!)
HD2
Last night they had a really nice bonfire on the beach which they built themselves. Whilst there was no guitar, they had great fun singing and they bonded well as a group. It was in the style of a pyjama party.
This morning was a nice early start for them (up at around 6.30am!), where they had a fun bike ride at the Alexander river. Everyone had fun, and whilst there were one or two falls, there were thankfully no injuries.
After this they visited the Rothschild’s Gardens. Here they learnt about Rothschild, saw his tomb, ate some plants from around the gardens (all safe to eat), and generally expanded their knowledge.
This was followed by a shwarma or falafel lunch, which was then followed by a walking tour of Zichron Ya’akov. After this they did a water hike in the Park Alona. This is where they walk through tunnels, which are completely dark with water up to their hips at some points – don’t worry, they had torches to guide them along the way. This of course created great ruach (spirit) throughout the mini hike.
After this they had a peulah (activity) run by the madrichim on hadracha (leadership) skills. They loved this, and the majority got very excited about leading camps next year!
Following dinner was another peulah regarding co-existence and the minorities in Israel. This was a huge eye opener for most, and extremely worthwhile.
As we speak they are all in the middle of a huge rave party put on for them with a professional dj and kibbud (snack food) – this is to try and make up for the disco boat!

Last night the dance competition went down an absolute treat. The madrichim (leaders) showed some moves, which the chanichim then had to follow. After a very instense competition Charles Herz and Oliver Grant were the proud winners.
This morning they too had a bike ride, which everyone loved – again, no major injuries.
They then went for lunch at a Habo house in Hadera. This is an irbutz – a modern day kibbutz. The whole kvutsa (group) are from Habonim from around the world (not Israel). After lunch they got a chance to speak to the group about their personal experiences and for the group to ask questions – everyone was highly inspired, but don’t worry, no one wants to make socialist aaliyah (yet!).
After this they arrived in Nachsholim, which is where they are staying. The rooms are apparently very big and luxurious – everyone loves them. Then then chilled out a bit before dinner, and they are now having some well earned free time!

1. zichron yakov: a small town with about 15,000 habitats. It was formed by the first pioneers who immigrated to Palestine in 1882 (first Aliyah). Back then it was one of the first new “moshavot” (villages) that were established by the Zionist movement. Very soon the place went into trouble so was bought by Habaron Rotshild, who re-named the place after his father James (Jacob). This was a turning point and the place flourished thanks to the money invested by Rotshild. This was the second place in Palestine to have an industrial vineyard, operating to this day.

2. nachal Alexander
A 32-kilometer long stream, starting next to shchem (Nablus) near mount Eival and Grizim. The stream is named probably after the hashmonaitic king Alexander Yanai. Not very long ago it was used to drain sewage water. Recently it was cleaned and is now used as a model of how to preserve the nature. Is the home of few hundreds special of their kind sweet water turtles.

3. alona park
this a special ancient site. The park is a remarkable memorandum to the roman sophisticated capabilities. Here a huge net of tunnels was built from the foot of the central mountains of Israel to the city of Caesarea. It is 23 km long and was designed to bring water to the people of the growing city.

4. kvutzat chadera
this is the newst irbutz by Habonim dror members in Israel. This is a very newly idea of creating a special community inside a city in order not only to live up to our uniqe values but also to be part of the society in Israel by being involved. This irbutz was formed only two month ago but its members are not so new olim (immigrants to the country), coming from different countries such as Australia, Canada, USA and Brazil.
