Shalom,
Hope you are all doing well.
Update
Unfortunately there is no official update from Israel Experience, however I can inform you of what has been passed onto myself; They have drawn new security borders for the groups that of course make it stricter on their travel. They can now not travel North beyond a certain point – this point is now further south than what has been in the past few days / weeks.
May I take this opportunity to remind you all of the security information website that the Israel Experience are running. If at any point you are worried then please check the website as it is updated regularly; www.summertour.org.uk
Weather; still at about 28 degrees c!
All
The groups have stuck to a very similar path over the past 24 hours doing similar activities, but sometimes in their separate groups. As such, I will update all of you together. They both got to Netanya safe last night, and pretty much headed straight to bed. Tour 1 didn’t get to finish watching “Finding Nemo” till this morning, but I was told that they found him ok!
They were both up relatively early this morning in preparation for World Yom Habonim Dror day. As I have previously said this is where all the Habonim Dror groups on short term programmes from around the world get together for the day and meet new people from different countries. They were on the beach of Netanya, had fun games with all of them and generally chilled out, relaxed, sun bathed, swam in the sea and got to know people from around the world all over a big barbeque. This went on until about 4.00 this afternoon, so was a very chilled yet enjoyable day for them all, and was of course accompanied by a huge ruach session (where they all sing songs and chants at the top of their voices!).
After this they both went back to their separate hotels. HD1 are staying at a place called Green Village, and HD2 are staying in a place called Dor Tantura. Both are still in / near Netanya. They then had a chance to shower before going in for some dinner.
After this both groups split into ‘families’. This is where each group split into groups of 10 people with 1 leader. They will meet in these ‘families’ again throughout tour on a regular basis, and is used as an opportunity to talk about how everyone is feeling as well as a support network and an opportunity to get to know everyone better.
As I write they are in the middle of a peulah, that I will update you on tomorrow! Whilst it has been a quiet day, it was one that everyone enjoyed and had fun meeting lots of new people.
I want to take this opportunity to ensure you that the children are having lots of fun, and do not feel affected by the situation. Whilst the chanichim are given regular Israel updates, we still have the feeling that the majority of them still feel that what they are being told is happening in this place ‘that they see on the tv’. Most of them don’t realize that they are in Israel, where everything is happening, so please be assured that they are still in good spirits and still busy and having fun.
Unfortunately that is all the news of the day. I have had a request from one parent to email out bi-daily. As such I will try my hardest to email out around lunchtime a one liner email just to inform you of the whereabouts of the group, and to let you know that everything is ok, and will continue to issue my evening email of a more thorough explanation of the day.
Additionally, tomorrow I will try and give you the new plan for the next few days.
If you have any questions / concerns, please feel free to contact me.
