EVENING UPDATE
Shalom, hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to a lovely weekend.
Both groups had a fantastic time at the Israel Experience event in Jerusalem. This event was held for all the tour groups in Israel, they all had lots to eat, met up with old and new friends as well as enjoying a concert with some Israeli singers and performers.
HD1
HD1 enjoyed their morning in Jaffa where they experienced a walking tour of the historic town, with their madrichim dressing up as different famous characters along the way. This brightened up the walking tour for everyone involved!! The group then went to the market where they all practiced their haggling skills. They were apparently very proficient at the negotiation and virtually all the members of HD1 + 2 were seen purchasing tasteless baggy trousers for extremely reasonable prices.
In the afternoon HD1 attended an Israeli musical in Tel Aviv where some famous numbers were sung from Les Miserables, Grease and West Side Story. It was all the more enjoyable because it was all sung in Ivrit. I have been assured that some people did fall asleep but because they were incredibly ‘tired’.
They are currently getting ready for Shabbat at their youth hostel. They have been preparing in their own distinctive ways; The boys have been playing football, whereas the girls have been washing their hair and putting their best clothes on.
Tonight they are having a Kabbalat Shabbat service and the kids have prepared an activity for this evening. They are all looking forward to a Shabbat lie in.
HD2

The group then travelled to their youth hostel in Jerusalem where they settled in for the afternoon and got ready for Shabbas. The afternoon was spent chilling, swimming in the hotel pool and treating themselves to some delicious Israeli ice cream.
They are currently getting ready for Shabbat at their youth hostel. Tonight they are having a Kabbalat Shabbat service in Jerusalem and then after Shabbas dinner they are going to enjoy a guitar and shiron session under the stars of Jerusalem. They are all looking forward to a Shabbat lie in.
Just to remind everyone there will be no email tomorrow because it is Shabbat. The emergencies phones will be on as normal.

The Security Department of the Jewish Agency in conjunction with the Cheder Matzav continue to monitor the situation in all parts of Israel. Programmes have been modified as necessary in accordance with the Security Department instructions. At present, group's itineraries and programmes in or around the north of Israel (Galil) are not taking place. Activities and accommodation have been changed to the centre and south of the country. All tours are continuing within their modified frameworks.

Sunday; Kikar Rabin in Tel Aviv, then a tour around Tel Aviv about Israeli Society. Then going to mifgashim (kibbutzim) – Kibbutz Orim and Tzelim – both south of Beer Sheva.

Saturday; Relaxing Shabbat day, few peulot by the madrichim, and a chance for families to come and visit (substitution for family weekend). Sleeping in Tzipori, Jeruslaem.
Sunday; Tour around Tel Aviv, then Kikar Rabin in Tel Aviv. Then going to mifgashim (kibbutzim) – Sora, which is inbetween Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and Na’an which is south of Tel Aviv.

All is well in the land of Israel with our Habonim Dror groups. Both groups have just been around Jaffo and done the market, which they all enjoyed.
