HD1
HD1 started the day volunteering in the P2K (partnership 2000) area of Israel, which gave them an opportunity to put the socialism that they are learning about into action.
HD2
HD2 started their day with a visit from members of
Kvutsat Yovel.
Kvutsat Yovel is made up of members of Habonim Dror UK and North America who made aliyah over 6 years ago. They live in Migdal HaEmek in the Galil and talked to the group about their socialist living and the new style of kibbutz, the Irbutz. They also spoke about the need for Social Action in Israel’s society and what they can do to help.
HD1 & HD2
Both HD1 and HD2 had an activity ran for them by their madrichim. This peulah was called “Mi Anachnu” (who are we?) socialism. The entirety of the Israel Camp programme is split into 3 stages, firstly (in the north) focussing on socialism, then on cultural Judaism in Jerusalem and finally on Zionism and socialist Zionism (in the Negev and Tel Aviv). After each stage, a peulah will be run for the groups to ensure that they understand the relevance to them back in Habonim Dror UK.
After the peulot, both groups travelled to the Jezreel valley for the start of mifgash (encounters). HD1 is split between kibbutzim Yisrael and Beit Alfa and HD2 is split between kibbutzim Ein Charod Echud and Geva. Over the next 4 days, the groups will get to know chanichim their own age living on kibbutz and learn what it is like to be a young person living in Israel.
