HD1 & HD2
This morning both groups left the Ariel Hotel early and said farewell to Jerusalem. After almost a week in the capital, the groups are finally leaving and travelling south into the Negev desert.
The groups will again spend almost a week learning about the Negev, its inhabitants, the environment and the animals that live there. They will also experience what it is like to live in the desert and will sleep outside most nights.
At the same time as learning about the desert, the group will be learning about the third part of Habonim Dror's Ideology. They learnt about Socialism in the north and Cultural Judaism in Jerusalem. Now their focus will turn to Zionism. They will be learning about David Ben-Gurion, the Palmach, the Declaration of Independence and much, much more.
The first stop for the groups in the Negev was the Joe Alon Centre. This is a centre devoted to Bedouins and Bedouin culture. The groups spent the day learning about the culture, their religion, their way of life and also spent some time with some Bedouins. The chanichim really enjoyed this experience and found it interesting to meet some of the non-Jewish inhabitants of Israel.
The groups then travelled to the Masada youth hostel, where they will be sleeping tonight, and learnt about the story of Masada before their early climb tomorrow morning.
