HD1
Today HD1 spent the day learning about the history of Jerusalem. They started the day with an introduction to the City from the Tayelet Haas, a promenade overlooking the city. They then moved into the
Old City where they learnt about the city walls and the other parts of the Jewish Quarter of the Old City, before moving on towards the
Kotel, Western Wall, and into the Kotel Tunnels, underground passages that follow the course of the ancient Kotel walls. They then visited the
Southern Walls excavations and learnt about life at the time of the Kotel. After their busy day, the group headed back to Bait Vegan where a holocaust survivor came to tell them about their life in the Shoah to prepare them for Yad Vashem in the morning.
HD2
HD2 headed off early to
Yad Vashem where their madrichim guided them around the site. They heard many stories of righteous gentiles and bravery and furthered their holocaust education from Sayarim last year. After the visit, the group did a short tiyul called Sataf, just outside Jerusalem, to give them time to gather their thoughts. Their madrichim then did a short peulah about how to ensure that genocides will not happen again. After their heavy day, the group had free time in the Malcha mall in Jerusalem.
