Sunday 10th August: Mainsite (Day 12)
Saturday was Myod (make your own day) This is where the chanachim make the activites for each other for the day. So there was parshat Davarim that was looked at, There was also looking at the secular, religious divide, a activity to look at Darfur and a African style banquite with a quilt full of peoples had prints that is being used to break the world record. Then havdalla with the final fun activity of the day being a giant human sized table football game.
Today they did a peulah on different countries where habo are with watching other countries summer camps and learning their songs from around the world. Then came the possibility of a two state solution and they watched the west bank story an Israeli/ palastinian version of west side story (very funny). This was followed with a mutual understanding peula, they had a very intimate candal lit session with readings from the conflict and explanations from the parents circle who share between Israeli and palastinian parents of victims from the conflict. The day was ended with a Tisha ba’av ceremony to remember the fall of both temples. Everyone is having an amazing time with spirits very high and full of fun through the day. The creativity is flowing and the weather is not so bad.

Friday 8th August: Mainsite (Day 10)
On camp today there was an amazing peulah where the whole camp was turned into a massive game. People were blindfolded and taken around the whole site. Where on their way they were given two very different sounds and smells of Israel where one was of Jewish sounds like at the Kotel and dancing in Rabin Square, While the other experience was of the Arab Israeli with sounds of the shuk and smells of schwarma and pitta cooking on the open fire. Then for the evening it was murder mystery time with who killed Makali Kalkin. It turned out it was the nutty professor with all the Universal characters on show who were at there A list party.
Thursday 7th August: Mainsite (Day 9)
Today on Rishonim, the chanichim started with a peulah on war and peace, looking at the wars that Israel has faced with all of the territories involved being represented by parts of an ice cream, with the cone representing the peace treaty with Egypt. Then followed a peulah about Lebanon which ended with a nice discussion about the MIA, learning about Samir Kuntar. After this, there was a big tunnel peulah about the situation of the Palestinians in Israel. Throughout the day, the chanichim have been taking part in the Habo Olympics, playing cricket, rounders and a giant connect 4, as well as spliiting into small groups to have kibbud families with the madrichim.
Wednesday 6th August: Mainsite (Day 8)
Today was another fun packed day starting with mifkad in the morning with vocals from the chanachim and madrachim that had the birds singing. Breakfast was yummy with spreads of all sorts and nice bit of cereal to boot.
After a nice bit of cleaning everyone got stuck into the first activity. It was a chance for the camp to learn about the history of Israel and some of the conflicts that the country has faced. In a very creative attempt it was learnt through completing tasks to create the perfect ice cream where they had to bargain to create the ingredients to bring together all the components of Israel with regard to its history with its Arab neighbours.
The rest of the day is looking just as exciting with the Olympics carrying on which a running theme of activities through camp. Kibbud families where the kids have time in very small groups of 2 or 3 to have a chat with a madrich to make sure all is well. Then tonight is an experience of characters and tunnels to learn about the situation between Israel and the Palestinians
Tuesday 5th August: Mainsite (Day 7)
"I don't want tiyul to end" were the cries. "We've had so much fun!" So last night was the last night of tiyul and how the tiyul groups made the most of it. They all rehearsed their kvusah song so they could show off to the other kvusot that they were the best and loudest and boy are they loud! Last night one group wrote letters to everyone in the group and they all read them aloud round the bonfire....ahh cute.
This morning everybody was awoken by the british weather of showers and more showers. Although this did not stop the excitement of MAIN SITE. Everybody was very quick to pack up their bags and tents so they could get to main site and be reunited with everyone. One last lunch was had in separate tiyul groups and the village of abergavenney has never heard such ruach(spirit.) People even came out of their houses to see what all the noise was all about!!
This afternoon everybody met up at main site and oh what a noise!!! Everybody was screaming and shouting about being reunited with everyone and soon everyone got to work with setting up their bedrooms for the next 10days and when I say bedrooms, I mean tents! Tonight plan is ‘Introduction to Machaneh’-this is where all the chanichim are introduced to the leaders followed by the very important rules session by the roshim and organisers!! Then it’s the first Machaneh dinner and then an evening activity. All in all everybody is in high spirits and cannot WAIT for main site to start.
Sunday 3rd August : Tiyul (Day 5)
Its another rip-roaring day at rishonim. With the last day of tyul everyone got up and packed the tents good by , then went for a lovely lunch out to pat themselves on a job well done. Then main site wow finally there well officially. There was a great introduction to main site with the madrachim and chanachim showing off there army skills with missions to introduce the camp. So after all that hard work the day is finishing with a heart warming camp fire with hot chocolate too boot. More tomorrow from the camp with an Irish accent. x
Saturday 2nd August : Tiyul (Day 4)

Friday 1st August : Tiyul (Day 3)
I’m glad to report that the rain has stopped and the sun has come out! Everybody headed off from main site back into the local village of Cappoquin. Everybody is enjoying the Irish countryside and as they walk they are making up songs for their Kvusah. The tiyul groups are called Haifa, Jaffa, Tel Aviv, BeerSheva and Eilat.
Tonight everybody is getting ready to bring in Shabbat. Most groups are having a BBQ and are planning a Shabbat service followed by a typical habo sing song. Spirits are high and it is already being described as the best tiyul ever! Shabbat Shalom xx
Thursday 31st July: Tiyul (Day 2)
Rishonim saw a lot of rain today. Every one was having an enjoyable time eating out in Cappaquin and enjoying the local scenery, later on it got a little to wet and everyone went to main site to stay inside for the night and get everything dry. They will go back on tyul tomorrow with dry and water proofed kit and keep enjoying the beautiful Irish countryside.
Wednesday 30th July: Tiyul (Day 1)
Hooray! After a long journey I am happy to say that everyone arrived happy and safely.
At 11am the 2 buses, 63 chanichim and 24 madrichim arrived in sunny Cappoquin singing and dancing all ready to embark on a 5 day tiyul of their lifetime!! As soon as they arrived they were split into 5 tiyul groups and were introduced to each other and their 4 or 5 madrichim. Each kvutsah (group) then sat in their groups playing get to know you games, (a big hit was the game bang!!) and everyone sat round chatting whilst eating breakfast.
After breakfast each kvutsah (group) said their farewells and started to make their way to the campsite. Along the way they sang songs, got to know the locals (apparently everybody has been very friendly-the village has never seen so many kids!) and played more games. At 2pm they stopped for lunch where baguettes, spreads, crisps and drinks were the hit of the day!
Everybody is in good spirits and enjoying being away from England but more importantly enjoying having fun and getting to know each other.
At 5pm everybody arrived at their campsite and settled in. Tonight’s dinner is being cooked by your very own children….and after a busy and jam packed day everybody is doing great and looking forward to spending their first night together as a kvutsah.
