HD1
HD1 have had a brilliantly fun & inspiring day!
They started the day with the Absorption Centre, set up like a kibbutz, it aims to integrate Ethiopian Olim (new citizens) to Israeli culture.
Here the chanichim made great new friends through the activities they had planned for the children living there. They played ball games with them, taught them habo-style games such as bang! Made arts&crafts activities with them. The kids could not stop laughing & giggling, they were all so excited to meet cool kids from the UK & treated our kids like celebrities.
They then went straight off to the Jordan River, where they ate pizza straight from the hot plates made-to-order in front of them for lunch, most of them chose olive toppings. For desert they had freshly cut watermelon & assorted cakes. (sounds better than my lunch of bread and butter)
They had to put extra sun cream on as it? such a hot day &made sure they were all wearing hats & had full water bottles. They decided to have a race down the river in the kayaks, some of them fell in, apparently it was "The best part of tour so far!"
HD2
Today HD2 have been to a seminar at Givat Chaviva, an institute, founded in 1949, as a national education centre promoting the values of equality & coexistence. There they met an Israeli Arab Lawyer & got to ask him questions about his life & his thoughts about the conflict. I spoke to them when they were having a tour, overlooking Barta and the West Bank. Sounds as if they?were very intrigued & having an inspirational day.
After the seminar, people from the Parents Circle, an amazing group made up of bereaved Israeli & Palestinian families who have lost loved ones in the Arab-Israeli conflict. This is sure to be an extremely meaningful sikkum (ending) to the full day.
Max Klineberg & Elana Almond are the roshim of the day (Mazel Tov goes out to all of their family & friends, you must be very proud?
When the group gets onto the bus this evening, they will receive invitations to tonights party, which is in the style of a children? party. The invitations will split them into 8 groups & give them a specific type of activity that they must plan for the party.
At the end of the party, they will play pass the parcel, in each layer they will find a question about leadership or hadracha. This is the first of two peulot (activities) that the madrichim have planned to ease them into becoming madrichim
