Monday 11th August: Mainsite (Day 8)
I cant believe it’s the last day! It seems like yesterday that they left.

At efrochim yesterday it was a jam packed fun day.  In the morning there was a peula on ‘make poverty history’ and a peula on utopia in the theme of mister men-the kids favourite character was mr mischief and little miss naughty…now why does that not surprise you! After a smoked salmon, cream cheese bagels lunch the kids went straight into an Olympic game session followed by a fair-trade theme kibbud families (kibbud means snacks.) The kids learnt that you can have really nice chocolate that is fair trade…..at least they are learning something! Before dinner there was the final peula, this wrapped up all the peulot that they had done throughout the week and the characters they had met along the way.  The final dinner was pizza and a topping of your choice and garlic bread-the kids said this camp was the best camp food they had had! Last nights activities consisted of your kids putting on ziggim(short skits) for each other in the form of a song, dance or a reenactment of the week in front of the whole machaneh. All the chanichim are sad that camp is over but very excited to see you all. Thank you for your support and see you next year! Look out for more photos later today!

Saturday 9th August: Mainsite (Day 6)
No update today as it is shabbat!

Hope you have a great, restful and meaningful day!

Shabbat Shalom!

Friday 8th August: Mainsite (Day 5)
Today was a very special day. It was Myod (make your own day). This is where the chanachim themselves plan the day and run peulot(activities) for each other. They had to teach each other about climate change. So the first group ran a peulah about the problems of climate change. This is a treasure hunt, then there is a recycling fashion show and the third peulah will be a renewable energy banquite. The kids are great and had loads of fun on their day out at Chessington yesterday.

Shabbat shalom and more fun on Sunday

love habo

Thursday 7th August: Mainsite (Day 4)
So yesterday was a FULL DAY- full of fun and activities. First thing, after mifkad and breakfast, which was great, they all attended a “heavy” Peulah (activity) where they learned about Darfur, in a museum style of show. All where very touched and had the chance to write on a wall their messages for the refugees and the misplaced in Africa and in different places in the world. Later on they had games session, followed by Lunch, made of a baguette A La Habonim, filled with a choice of cheese, mushrooms, onions or green pepper.

After lunch they enjoyed the beautiful weather on the grass, and then went on different chuggim – arts and crafts stalls. The second peulah of the day dealt with asylum seekers in UK, by a fun theme made of Aliens and different planets. By the afternoon, after refreshments was given, they all gathered to hear the story of Gilad Shalit, the missing in Action Israeli soldier, with our very own Israeli shaliach. They all wrote and drew nice letters to Shalit and family, some of them where already sent to an Israeli organization called “habanim”, which supports the MIA and the family. (www.habanim.org ).

Later on another session of chuggim, with different stops such as IDF training, Sumo wrestling, bracelets making and more was held. All enjoyed a great day on the green grass of the Headington camp site.

Dinner was a treat with a veggie burger and a veggie sausage, mash potatoes, peas and sweat corn. For dessert they all had watermelon and grapes.

The last peulah after dinner dealt with children at war, and all got very engaged!

Today is a day out in a theme park, an hour drive from Oxford. All are having the best time ever!

Wednesday 6th August: Mainsite (Day 3)
This morning, they had a group meditation then were guided into an exhibition about Darfur, it showed the Jewish perspective, the room was filled with sand & music, & lots of effects to allow the chanichim to walk around & feel the atmosphere.

They then came out for group discussions & back in to watch a dvd.

Lunch was a great one- pizza bageuttes with cheese, tomatoe & either mushrooms, onions, olives, tuna, sweetcorn as toppings & salad too! They had fruit for desert, the room was filled with loads of chants & songs about habo & camp. They've made one up about Efrochim & putting rubbish in the bin!

After lunch they watched 'adverts' performed by their madrichim (leaders) for which activities they want to do later- the options were Sumo wrestling, friendship bracelet making, meditation & chill-out, IDF.

Then they went into an activity this afternoon, first they had a fair outside, where they had to complete tasks which gradually got more & more diifucultm then they pretended to be aliens, & had to get a house, a job & money, this was a difficult game which let into a discussion about asylum seekers & refugees.

In the afternoon break they had ice-cream & Are having an Israel update, from our shaliach Yahal.

Monday 4th August: Mainsite (Day 1)
So basically today efrochim kids are working hard. Last night they had a shiron session (singing around camp fire), so woke up late – 8:30! It was easier to kids to get up, and they all had fantastic mifkad (morning assembly). They had good breakfast and went on first peulah which was on equality.  Later on they had the chance to spend some time together in their small groups, few in each group with 2-3 leaders. Lunch was full of potatoes, filled with Tuna, Cheese and Beans – the Habo lunch style. Of course salad and fruit was given to all, as well as drinks. 2nd peulah was all about self example, and soon after they will all attend the HABO OLYMPIC special games!

Later tonight more activities and more fun, but bed time is never late!
